The Happiness We Choose

They say there is no right way to grieve, but even so, Nicolas is pretty sure he’s doing it all wrong. Holding tight to the circumstances of his mother’s death and carrying the burden alone, the weight of his guilt has all but ruined his chances of moving on.
Determined to at least make his late mother proud, Nicolas puts his legal career on hold to help his aunt with her charitable foundation, expecting it to be nothing more than a simple favor—one he is hoping he won’t regret. But when he is captivated by his quick-witted and endearingly optimistic coworker, Kate, regret is the furthest thing from his mind. As their relationship blossoms from reluctant peers to something more than friends, Nicolas finds a glimmer of hope he hadn’t realized he wanted.
But first, he must reconcile the grief that continues to define him. In doing so, he finds that the cost of his happiness might not be a price he’s willing to pay and the secret he carries can’t stay buried forever.
